Tampa Roofing Visibility Index
Tampa's roofing map has a center of gravity, and it isn't downtown. Eight of the ten most visible roofers on this board keep their office outside Tampa proper — Ruskin, Riverview, Wimauma, Sun City Center, Valrico, Dover — the growth suburbs southeast and east of the city. The demand is there to match: homeowners across the metro search Google for a roofer about 7,970 times a month, one of the deepest pools we've mapped in Florida, behind only Miami and Orlando. And nobody owns it outright — 56 different roofers hold at least one #1 square on this map, with the county's two heaviest map machines grinding over the corridor in the middle of it.
Most of those searches never get past the local pack — the little map
and short list of companies Google drops at the very top. This map shows who actually owns that
ground, neighborhood by neighborhood — a snapshot of who is visible right now, not a measure
of who does the best work. If your company is on it — or should be — read the cards
below like scouting reports: what the winners actually did, and where the ground is still open.
Colored squares are locked down by one contractor — the deeper the shade,
the stronger their hold. Grey squares are up for grabs: no one wins them consistently
yet. More roofers hold ground here than we have colors, so a color can repeat between territories on opposite ends of the map — the hover card is the tiebreaker. Start with your own neighborhood — that's where you're most likely to
rank.
What the map tells us
No single roofer owns Tampa. 56 different companies are #1 in at least one pocket, and the biggest territory — Steadfast Roofing's — is just 7 of the 110 points we searched. Visibility here is won neighborhood by neighborhood, not metro-wide.
Steadfast Roofing is the roofer to beat in Gibsonton, Riverview and Apollo Beach.
Shingle Masters Roofing and Construction is the roofer to beat in Riverview and Gibsonton.
HOFFMAN ROOFING INC is the roofer to beat in Wimauma, Riverview and Balm.
Five Star Roofing and Construction, Inc. is the roofer to beat in Tampa.
Whole neighborhoods have no real leader. In Tierra Verde and Westchase and others, every #1 is a single-spot win with no established roofer behind it — the most winnable ground on the map.
Even Tampa's core is contested: across its 38 search points the strongest roofer leads just 4, with 27 different one-spot winners splitting the rest.
Some pockets are beatable on reputation alone — Tampa is currently led by North Miami Beach Skyline Shelter Roofing Contractors with just 1 review.
The 10 most visible roofers
Two things put a roofer here: location — the pocket they sit in — and
reputation, which sets how far that pocket reaches. Each card's bar shows how much of the
110-area map a roofer holds; the empty space is the map they don't reach. Some of these leads
are earned and defensible. Others are sitting there waiting to be taken — the cards call out which
is which. Rankings and reviews captured August 5, 2026; review counts are measured from that date.

Shingle Masters Roofing and Construction

Ranking reachTop 3 in 13 of 110 neighborhoods, including 7 where they rank #1.
6%5%88%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: Shingle Masters holds the top of this board from a Commerce Street office in Riverview: seven #1 spots — tied with Steadfast for the most on the map — and top 3 in 13 of the 110 neighborhoods we checked, through Riverview, Gibsonton, Brandon, and into Tampa. Six of those #1s are Riverview blocks. The engine is 658 reviews at 4.9, and it converts: where this profile appears on the map it averages #3.5, while the 1,181-review machine it shares the corridor with averages #5.6. The sharper conversion, on 658 reviews to their 1,181 — an address planted in the middle of the ground it wins does the rest.Riverview is the one stretch of Tampa where two profiles this size grind on each other block by block. If your ground is anywhere else in the metro, look at what you're actually competing with instead — for most of this map, it's a fraction of this.

Steadfast Roofing
Gibsonton, Riverview and Apollo Beach
5★ · 1,181 reviews · 70 new in 90d
Ranking reachTop 3 in 13 of 110 neighborhoods, including 7 where they rank #1.
6%5%88%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: Steadfast Roofing is the heaviest profile on this map: a flat 5.0 across 1,181 reviews, the largest perfect-rating profile in the county — the next-biggest 5.0 here carries 455. From Ruskin they hold top 3 in 13 neighborhoods spread across seven towns — Ruskin, Apollo Beach, Sun City Center, Wimauma, Riverview, Gibsonton, into Tampa — seven of them at #1. Nobody else on this board holds ground in more than five towns. There's no twist here, and that's the point. Tampa's map is an arms race, and this is what the front of it looks like: a four-figure review count, a spotless rating, and an office in the fastest-growing corner of the county. And still — 13 of 110. The biggest machine in the county can't be close to everyone. The other 97 squares get decided the same way they do everywhere else: by whoever is nearby and established. That's the room left in a market even this heavy.
3
HOFFMAN ROOFING INC
Wimauma, Riverview and Balm
5★ · 83 reviews · 3 new in 90d
Ranking reachTop 3 in 9 of 110 neighborhoods, including 6 where they rank #1.
5%3%92%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: Hoffman Roofing converts better than anyone on this board. From Colding Loop in Wimauma they hold six #1 spots across Wimauma, Balm, and Riverview — top 3 in nine neighborhoods — and where this profile appears on the map it averages #3, the best of any roofer holding five or more neighborhoods in the county. All of it on 83 reviews at a flat 5.0.Three of Wimauma's four squares are Hoffman's; the fourth went to the 1,181-review machine up the road. And the nine neighborhoods they hold are the same nine they held when we mapped the county in July — this ground is held, not visited. If your patch is the rural southeast, this is the bar: not mass — a nearby address and a spotless small profile. That's beatable math at 83 reviews. It's also exactly the math you'd use to beat it.
4
Five Star Roofing and Construction, Inc.
Tampa
4.7★ · 368 reviews · 8 new in 90d
Ranking reachTop 3 in 8 of 110 neighborhoods, including 4 where they rank #1.
4%4%93%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: Five Star Roofing works the city core: four #1 spots in Tampa proper and top 3 in eight neighborhoods, from Tampa through Temple Terrace up to Lutz, on 368 reviews at 4.7. They cast one of the widest nets on this map — visible in 71 of the 330 searches we ran — and average about #7 where they show.Wide and thin is a strategy, and it works for being found. It just doesn't win blocks: reputation gets you onto the list almost everywhere, and then proximity picks the podium. If Five Star is the name you keep seeing just below you in your own neighborhood, that's why they're below you — and why they'll stay there unless you go quiet.
5
A First Choice Roofing
Lithia and Riverview

Ranking reachTop 3 in 8 of 110 neighborhoods, including 2 where they rank #1.
2%5%93%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: A First Choice Roofing carries a 4.3 — the lowest rating on this board — on 174 reviews. By every playbook this profile shouldn't be here. It's #5: top 3 in eight neighborhoods, six of them in Riverview — the same Riverview the county's two heaviest profiles grind over — with #1 spots in Riverview and Lithia. What it has is an address on David Baker Road in the middle of that ground, and the map keeps paying the address. This is the purest proof of proximity we publish: not a great rating, not polish — being physically there. If you're losing map spots to a 4.3, stop blaming your rating. And if this profile ever gets its reputation in order, it's sitting on prime ground.
6
New Foundations Roofing
Ruskin and Sun City Center
4.9★ · 83 reviews · 1 new in 90d
Ranking reachTop 3 in 8 of 110 neighborhoods, including 3 where they rank #1.
3%5%93%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: New Foundations Roofing sits on Sun City Center Boulevard, the main road of a town that is essentially one giant retirement community — tens of thousands of roofs, most of them owned by people who will hire exactly one roofer and tell their neighbors about it. The profile fits the place: 83 reviews at 4.9, top 3 in eight neighborhoods across Ruskin, Sun City Center, and Wimauma, three at #1 — and it averages #3.3 where it appears. The caution is already on the map. Sun City Center has two squares; Steadfast owns one of them. Profiles that size don't stay out of quiet pockets forever.Being the established name on Main Street still holds this kind of ground. It just no longer holds it by default.
7
SCM Roofing, LLC
Tampa
4.9★ · 240 reviews
Ranking reachTop 3 in 7 of 110 neighborhoods, including 2 where they rank #1.
2%5%94%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: SCM Roofing is the strangest split on this board. The office is in Valrico; the wins aren't. Their 240 reviews at 4.9 make them visible in 65 of our 330 searches — a top-five net on this map — but they average about #8 where they appear, and the top-3 ground they actually hold sits in Tampa proper, two spots at #1, plus the northwest edge at Odessa and Cheval. At home, Valrico has two squares on this map — both belong to their neighbor Certified Roofers. SCM doesn't crack a top 3 on its own street. That's what the second tier looks like in a market this heavy: too big to miss, not close enough to lock down — visible nearly everywhere, owning almost nothing outright.Between SCM and Certified, Valrico quietly holds two of the ten most visible roofers in the metro. If you work the eastern suburbs, your real competition isn't in Tampa. It's around the corner.
8
SouthShore Roofing & Exteriors
Tampa and Temple Terrace
4.8★ · 583 reviews · 13 new in 90d
Ranking reachTop 3 in 7 of 110 neighborhoods, including 2 where they rank #1.
2%5%94%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: SouthShore Roofing is named for the coast down by Ruskin and Apollo Beach. Their office — and every square they hold — is across the county in Tampa and Temple Terrace. The map doesn't read your name; it reads your pin. What the pin buys: top 3 in seven neighborhoods with two #1s, on 583 reviews at 4.8, the third-biggest review pile on this board. Note the exchange rate — 583 reviews, two #1 squares, while Hoffman holds six on 83. The city core is the most contested ground in the metro, so mass buys presence there, not lockdown. That's the trade the city center offers everyone: more demand, more competition, thinner ownership. The corridor teams own blocks; the city teams share them.
9
Buddy's Roofing & Repairs
Thonotosassa and Plant City
4.6★ · 128 reviews
Ranking reachTop 3 in 5 of 110 neighborhoods, including 4 where they rank #1.
4%1%95%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: Buddy's Roofing & Repairs is the board's eastern flank, and its cleanest lesson in picking your ground. From Thonotosassa Road in Dover they crack the top 3 in five neighborhoods out east — Thonotosassa, Plant City, Seffner — and in four of the five they're #1. Nobody else on this board wins outright at that rate. The profile is ordinary on purpose: 128 reviews at 4.6 — and 128 is exactly the median it takes to hold a #1 square on this map. What isn't ordinary is the neighborhood. Neither of the county's two heavyweight profiles cracks a top 3 anywhere out east; the names Buddy's beats there are other small locals. That's the whole play: take the ground the giants don't reach, and be the most established name standing on it. The east edge had room for exactly that — and its squares change hands on far less than Riverview's.
10
Certified Roofers & General Contractors, Inc.
Valrico and Fish Hawk
4.8★ · 228 reviews · 6 new in 90d
Ranking reachTop 3 in 6 of 110 neighborhoods, including 3 where they rank #1.
3%3%95%
Ranked #1Ranked #2–3Not in top 3
How they got there: Certified Roofers works the family-suburb east — Valrico, FishHawk, Lithia — from Lynx Paw Trail, and holds it the unglamorous way: 228 reviews at 4.8, an address in the middle of the ground, and top-3 spots spread across five towns — Valrico, Lithia, Fish Hawk, Riverview, Brandon — with #1s on both Valrico squares and in Fish Hawk. Only Steadfast holds ground in more towns. Both Valrico squares were theirs when we mapped the county in July, and both are theirs now. The machines next door carry roughly three to five times the reviews and still don't crack these blocks.Nothing about this profile is spectacular, which is exactly the lesson: steady reputation plus tenure plus the right address holds a suburb indefinitely. Nobody outranks the established roofer standing in the neighborhood.
Reputation and reviews
In most of the counties we map, the review leader and the map leaders are different companies. Tampa is the exception — this is the one market where the review pile and the map ground mostly belong to the same names, and the bar is priced accordingly: the cheapest spot on this map went for a single review, the dearest for 1,901. A footnote on that cheap end: the single-review listing holding it is one operation running the same profile under six different city names — one website behind all of them, five phone numbers, and a lead name that points at a city on the other coast of Florida. It shows up in 81 of our 330 searches and cracks a top 3 in six. Google sees it everywhere and hands it almost nothing — thin listings scale their visibility, not their wins.
What it takes to win a spot — the reviews held by the #1 roofer at each of the 110 search points
Lowest bar1 reviewTampaNorth Miami Beach Skyline…
Typical spot128 reviewsmedian of the 110 wins
Highest bar1,901 reviewsTampaWestfall Roofing
At one end, a quiet corner of Tampa went to North Miami Beach Skyline… on just 1 review. At the other, a contested spot in Tampa took Westfall Roofing’s 1,901. The bar is set by who sits near you, not by one citywide number.
Westfall Roofing is that 1,901 — the biggest review pile in the county — and unlike the review giants in most of our other counties, Westfall's pile earns visible ground: the dearest contested spot on this map is theirs, they hold the #2 seat in the citywide “roofing company” map pack, and they're top 3 in four neighborhoods around Tampa, two of them at #1.
And still — four neighborhoods, against the 13 Steadfast holds on 1,181 reviews and the 13 Shingle Masters holds on 658, both from offices planted in the growth corridor. Even in the one market where mass visibly pays, placement multiplies it. Tampa's lesson isn't that reviews don't matter; it's that they buy you a seat at the table, not the table.

Most visible in search
Tampa's search column shares almost no names with the map above — it's a different game with different winners. JA Edwards of America tops it, landing in the top 3 of the regular results for nine of the searches we analyzed, while holding zero neighborhoods on the grid and carrying fewer than 90 reviews. The map's heavyweights barely register going the other way: the 1,181-review machine cracks the search top 3 on two. The closest thing to a crossover is Tampa Roof Repair — a handful of search wins, a seat in the citywide “roofing contractor” map pack, and top-3 ground on the map around Tampa — and almost nobody else in the metro is even attempting both. This column isn't gated by review counts. It's gated by having a website actually built for these searches, which almost no roofer in the metro has bothered to do.
The prize for bothering: 34 of the 70 searches we analyzed — things like “standing seam metal roof”, “tpo roofing”, “gable roof” — never show a local pack, about 2,700 searches a month that proximity can't touch. If the arms race on the map above felt out of reach, this is the other door. Here's who showed up most in the search results:

What we measured
We analyzed the 70 highest-volume roofing searches in Tampa — about 7,970 searches a month — then searched Google Maps from 110 points spread across Tampa (points over water are skipped) to record exactly which roofing companies show up, and where. 412 distinct roofing businesses appeared — and the same handful of names came up again and again.
Google answers a local search in two places: the local pack — the little map and the few businesses shown first (you may know it as the “map pack”) — and the regular results beneath it. This report is about the local pack, where most of the clicks go. We looked only at the results companies earn — not sponsored placements (Local Services Ads, Google Ads), which sit above them and are a separate, pay-to-play game.
How these rankings work
Local rankings are always moving. Google refreshes them constantly, so the exact order at any single
point can shift week to week, and the leader at a hotly contested spot today may not be the leader next
month. Run one of these searches from your own corner of Tampa and you may see a slightly different
lineup, because Google tailors what it shows to exactly where you're standing.
All of which is why the citywide map only tells you so much. The one that decides whether your phone
rings is your own: where you already win, where you never appear, and where a competitor down the street
is quietly taking ground you can't see.
Where do you show up on this map?
You've just seen who owns Tampa. The other half of the story is your company: which
neighborhoods you show up in, which ones you don't, and who's getting the calls there instead.
